23/06/25 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 23 June, the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) published a new study looking at how subcontracting and algorithmic management are transforming work and the associated risks in the logistics sector, through cases of labour exploitation (Italy), compromised regulation (Spain), violations of workers’ rights (France) and opaque subcontracting chains (Germany). The study reveals how outsourcing, algorithmic management and the fragmentation of employment structures are undermining working conditions and weakening trade union representation. It describes a sector characterised by long chains of subcontracting, widespread use of precarious contracts and the increasing invisibility of delivery workers, many of whom, particularly third-country nationals, are underpaid, over-supervised and excluded from collective protection. At the same time, health and safety risks are increasing. Further information: https://aeur.eu/f/hi8 (SP)
