23/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – At the meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday 23 June, the European Union Member States appointed former Dutch minister Kajsa Ollongren to the post of EU special representative (EUSR) for human rights. Ms Ollongren succeeds Swedish diplomat Olof Skoog, whose departure in March 2025 left the post vacant. Like her predecessor, the new special representative will be responsible for contributing to the implementation of EU human rights policy, EU positions aimed at promoting respect for international humanitarian law and support for international criminal justice. In the Netherlands, Ms Ollongren has served as minister of the interior, deputy prime minister and minister of defence. See Ms Ollongren’s curriculum vitae: https://aeur.eu/f/hhz (BD)
