European Commission presents its regulation for phasing out Russian gas contracts by end of 2027

On Tuesday 17 June, the European Commission presented its legislative proposal, in the form of an EU regulation, to put a definitive end to imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and pipeline gas from Russia by 2027 (see EUROPE B13660A4).

The institution estimates that these Russian imports should still account for around 13% of the EU’s total gas imports in 2025.
