On Tuesday 17 June, the European Commission presented a package of measures designed to relaunch the securitisation market in the European Union. This is the first legislative proposal in the strategy for a ‘Savings and Investment Union’ presented by the EU institution in March (see EUROPE B13603A5). The Commission intends to simplify and strengthen the existing regulatory framework in order to stimulate investment in the real economy.
