02/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 2 June, the European Commission published new documents to help Member States draw up their National Building Renovation Plans (NBRP), a first version of which must be submitted by 31 December under the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) (see EUROPE 13369/29). The Commission is presenting a template NBRP and a template spreadsheet for collecting NBRP data “in order to simplify the planning process and ensure that all the mandatory elements of the NBRP described in Annex II of the EPBD are taken into account”. Each EU country must therefore set out in its National Plan how it intends to decarbonise its building stock and achieve the climate and energy targets that have been set in more general terms in its integrated national energy and climate plan (NECP) (see EUROPE 13650/7).
