02/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Union and India are conducting a joint naval exercise in the Indian Ocean from 1 to 3 June. The exercise covers advanced counter-piracy operations, interoperability, tactical manoeuvres and enhanced communication protocols, “reflecting the growing maritime security cooperation between the two sides”, announced the European External Action Service in a press release. The exercise is supervised by the respective Maritime Operations Centres (MOCs) and involves Indian Navy ships and two frigates from the European Union naval force EUNAVFOR Atalanta, the Italian ship Antonio Marceglia and the Spanish ship Reina Sofia, as well as their respective air assets.
