08/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) urged the European Commission, on Monday 7 April, to seek a constructive, negotiated solution with the United States, following a high-level meeting between Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and industry leaders, including those from BMW, Daimler Trucks, IVECO, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Stellantis and Volkswagen. ACEA also wants to avoid countermeasures that could harm European competitiveness. “Not only is it essential that European and American leaders urgently find a solution to the ongoing trade conflict, but it is imperative that the European institutions actively implement the Automotive Action Plan to enhance competitiveness, reduce costs, alleviate the regulatory burden, and strengthen European manufacturing”, emphasised Sigrid de Vries, ACEA’s Director General.
