08/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 8 April, the European Commission announced the allocation of an initial €41 million in humanitarian aid in 2025 for the Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean regions facing natural disasters and conflicts. Seventeen million will be mobilised in Mozambique to deal with the consequences of tropical cyclones Chido, Dikeledi and Jude, which hit the country between December 2024 and March 2025. Seven million will be used to facilitate access to food, emergency education and nutritional services in Madagascar. One million euros have been earmarked to support the fight against the cholera epidemic in Angola. The remaining 16 million will be devoted to regional programmes to protect children, combat gender-based violence and epidemics. (BD)
