26/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 26 March, the ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) confirmed the negotiating position of the Council of the EU regarding macro-financial assistance of €500 million that the EU will provide to Jordan. This aid, which will last two and a half years, will be granted in the form of preferential loans (maximum maturity of 35 years) disbursed in three instalments. It will be conditional on respect for democratic values and the Rule of law, as well as the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that identifies the reforms that Jordan will have to implement in order to create an environment conducive to economic growth and put its public finances on a sounder footing. MEPs recently adopted their negotiating position (see EUROPE 13605/16). See the text approved by the EU Council: https://aeur.eu/f/g4q (MB)
