Diaspora tilts referendum in favour of a ‘YES’ vote to include country’s European perspective in constitution

On Sunday 20 October, Moldovans voted by a very narrow majority, ‘yes’, in a referendum to change the Constitution in order to incorporate the country’s European perspective.

After all the votes had been counted, 50.46% of Moldovans ultimately said ‘yes’. 2.8 million Moldovans - 1/3 of whom live abroad - were asked to express their views on the European future of their country by answering the question: “Are you in favour of amending the Constitution to enshrine the Republic of...
