EU denounces Knesset’s adoption on first reading of law banning UNRWA

26/07/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 26 July, EU High Representative Josep Borrell condemned the adoption at first reading in the Knesset of a bill banning the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and severing all links with the UN agency. “Outlawing UNRWA – and labelling it as terrorist, which it is not – amounts to targeting regional stability and human dignity of all those benefiting from the UN agency work”, denounced the High Representative on X. He joined many partners, including the United States, “in urging the Israeli government to halt this nonsense”. (CG)
