On Friday 26 July, the European Commission made the fourth disbursement to Spain of €9.9 billion (net of pre-financing) in the form of a grant under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
The request for payment of €10 billion came from Spain, which addressed it to the European Commission on 20 December 2023. As payments under the RRF depend on Member States implementing the investments and reforms described in their recovery and resilience plans, the Commission specifies that the objectives linked to this 9.9 billion cover areas such as the green and digital transition, smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, economic, institutional and social resilience, territorial cohesion, etc.
As the target for digitalising businesses has not been met, the Commission has paid out €9.9 billion and has given Spain 6 months to achieve it.
In addition, on Thursday 25 July, the European Commission received Belgium’s second disbursement request under the RRF, for a total of €909 million (excluding pre-financing), including 869 million in grants and 40 million in loans. (Original version in French by Florent Servia)
