27/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 27 June, the European Commission opened nominations for the 2025 Access City Award. This is year marks the 15th edition of the award, organised in partnership with the European Disability Forum, which rewards cities that have taken remarkable steps to improve their accessibility. With this being the year of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, a special mention for “Accessible Sports Infrastructure” will be awarded. The prize is open to towns and cities in the European Union with a population of over 50,000, and entries must be received by 11.59pm EDT on 10 September. The winners will be announced at the European Day of Persons with Disabilities conference taking place on 28 and 29 November 2024. The prizes will be 150,000, 120,000 and 80,000 euros for first, second and third place respectively. (NP)
