EuroPride 2024 opened on Wednesday 26 June in Thessaloniki (Greece) for three days of festivities and discussions on LGBTQI rights. European Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli gave a speech at the opening of the human rights conference in the presence of Greek Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs Sofia Zacharaki, the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis, French Ambassador for LGBT+ Rights Jean-Marc Berthon, and the general coordinator of EuroPride 2024.
Helena Dalli gave an update on the progress made in equality for LGBTQI people, notably through the European Union strategy (2020-2025). She also met with the Greek Association of Women Entrepreneurs to discuss the promotion of women to management positions and female entrepreneurship.
Vice-President Margarítis Schinás, responsible for Promoting our European Way of Life, will speak at the closing ceremony on Friday 28 June, alongside Michael O'Flaherty, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
