European Commission and OECD develop a new tool for enhanced cross-border governance

19/06/24 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and the OECD jointly held a dialogue between experts and practitioners on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 June to introduce and discuss a new tool designed to “strengthen governance in cross-border regions“. According to Olivier Baudelet, a member of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, this cross-border cooperation is “essential to making full use of the many benefits of the EU“. The main aims of this tool are to promote cross-border development, strengthen the bodies that support it, evaluate the various initiatives and ensure sustainable funding for cross-border bodies and actions.
