19/06/24 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched, on Tuesday 18 June, a public consultation to gather feedback from stakeholders involved in implementing the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) initiative. This consultation, open to all interested parties or participants in the cultural field, is available in all EU languages until 24 September 2024. The interim evaluation covers the European Capitals of Culture action 2020-2033 and aims to identify the impact of the action over the last ten years. Since 1985, more than 60 cities have been designated European Capitals of Culture, promoting cultural diversity and a sense of belonging among Europe's citizens. The results of this consultation will contribute to a European Commission report to the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the Committee of the Regions, thus influencing the future of action after 2033.
