19/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – In a press release issued on Wednesday 19 June, the Ukrainian Presidency announced that the security agreement between the EU and Ukraine would be signed shortly. “The Ukrainian and European negotiating teams have finalised the text of the security agreement and have agreed to sign it in the near future”, explained the Presidency on its website, following a final round of negotiations between the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Zhovkva, and Charles Fries, the Deputy Secretary-General for Peace, Security and Defence of the European External Action Service. According to the Ukrainians, this agreement will be concluded within the framework of the joint declaration of support for Ukraine, which the EU and the G7 countries approved in Vilnius on 12 July 2023 (see EUROPE 13221/13).
