Appointment of two directors to directorate-general for statistics

19/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 19 June, the European Commission appointed María Antonia Martinez Luengo as Director of Macroeconomic Statistics in the Commission's Directorate-General for Statistics (DG EUROSTAT). Since September 2015, she has been Director of the National Accounts Department and a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Statistical Office (INE). In addition, Gabriele Semeraro, an Italian, currently Director of Financial Accounts and Statistical Methodology at the Bank of Italy, has been appointed by the Commission to the post of Director of Public Finance Statistics (PFS) within DG Eurostat.
