Two public consultations were published by the Commission on Thursday 25 April, both focusing on reducing computer energy consumption, eco-design and energy labelling.
In the context of a future regulation, the Commission is seeking views on ways to reduce the energy consumption of computers, in particular by establishing minimum efficiency requirements and performance and design criteria.
The second consultation focuses more on helping consumers to choose the most energy-efficient computers, using a scale ranging from class A (most efficient) to class G (least efficient), as is already the case for household electrical appliances.
The two consultations are open for feedback until 18 July 2024.
