29/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – Polish farmers lifted all their roadblocks at the Polish-Ukrainian border on Monday 29 April. “All lorries can pass through as long as they are not transporting sanctioned products”, said Michal Derus, spokesman for the Lublin Region Tax Administration Chamber. Since September 2023, Poland has banned imports of Ukrainian grains. The reopening of the borders after months of blockades comes as the Polish authorities announced new aid for farmers last week. According to one of the leaders of the farmers’ protest, they have not reached an agreement with the government, but have decided to suspend the blockades in order to support the Ukrainian forces in difficulty on the front line. The Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture, Mykola Solsky, welcomed the “constructive work” of the Polish government in this unblocking. (LM)
