OECD/UNDP ‘Tax Inspectors Without Borders’ initiative continues to drive growth in tax revenues

The ‘Tax Inspectors Without Borders’ (TIWB) initiative of the OECD and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) continues to provide effective assistance to developing countries to increase their tax revenues and mobilise their domestic resources, according to an OECD report published on Monday 29 April.

Since its creation, the TIWB initiative has successfully completed 71 programmes in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and 59 additional projects are currently underway. These programmes have enabled developing countries to collect US$2.30 billion in additional tax revenue and increase their global tax receivable by US$6.05 billion. These efforts have contributed significantly to progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by strengthening the mobilisation of domestic resources.

The EU and several Member States are partners in these projects, which aim to provide local agents with real-life assistance on ongoing cases involving the audit of multinational companies.
