17/04/24 (Agence Europe) – The REMIT regulation, aimed at improving the EU's protection against market manipulation on the wholesale energy market (see EUROPE 13373/20), was published in the EU's Official Journal on Wednesday 17 April. Negotiated as part of the reform of the European electricity market in 2023 (see EUROPE 13389/12), the text adopted gives a greater role to the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) in its right to carry out investigations, aims to rationalise the process of collecting and publishing information at European level, and establishes a benchmark for the price of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
