17/04/24 (Agence Europe) – On the evening of Tuesday 16 April, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service expressed the European Union’s grave concern at the worsening situation in the West Bank, “where settler violence, intimidation and the destruction of homes and property have continued to steeply rise over the past few days“, following the murder of an Israeli teenager on 12 April. “We condemn all attacks against civilians, including the reported killings of four Palestinians”, he stressed in a statement, calling on Israel to step up efforts to prevent recurring settler violence against Palestinians and to ensure that perpetrators of crimes are held accountable. In his view, all efforts should be directed at preventing further tensions. The EU is working on sanctions against violent settlers. (CG)
