28/03/24 (Agence Europe) – Six representatives of various European agricultural sectors, including Copa-Cogeca, have expressed their disappointment following the Member States’ decision on Wednesday 27 March to approve the provisional agreement on autonomous trade measures concerning Ukraine (see EUROPE 13380/1). They called for the whole of 2021 to be taken into account for the reference period of the safeguard measure, and not just the second half of this year. The non-inclusion of common wheat and barley in this automatic safeguard also poses a problem for them. The solution found by the Council yesterday is not “sustainable for farmers and producers”, according to the six organisations. (LM)
