On Thursday 28 March, the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Iliana Ivanova, began a three-day visit to Beijing as part of the EU-China high-level dialogue on people-to-people exchanges.
This 6th edition, focusing on partnership for “a greener and sustainable future”, covers the sectors of education, gender, youth, sport and culture.
This initiative follows the 24th EU-China Summit in December 2023 (see EUROPE 13309/21) to revitalise the dialogue initiated in 2012. The aim is to encourage the sharing of ideas and best practices in order to increase mutual understanding between the EU and China.
Next week, Commissioner Ivanova will be in Tokyo from 1 to 4 April for the EU-Japan political dialogue in the fields of education, culture and sport.
Since it was set up in 2018, two meetings have taken place, demonstrating the importance of mobility in higher education, digital education and the exchange of political practices in culture and sport.
The third edition will take place on 3 April and will be marked by a series of meetings and special events, including a “high-level” meeting on innovative materials in research and innovation, which Iliana Ivanova will take part in. (Original version in French by Nithya Paquiry)
