14/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – Bringing together a panel of 60 citizens that is representative of the Belgian population, the beEU 2024 citizen panel, set up by the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will begin its work on 24 and 25 February at the Palais d’Egmont in Brussels. Its mission: to discuss and make recommendations on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in Europe. The panel will address this topic from multiple angles (safety, ethics, employment, social affairs, technological sovereignty, economic competitiveness, democracy and politics) and will follow a specific methodology (introduction to the topic and exploration of AI’s practical applications, discussions with experts in the field of AI and European public policy, deliberation). Two further sessions will be held on 23 and 24 March and 20 and 21 April. The conclusions will be presented at a final event and will serve as a source of inspiration for the European strategic agenda 2024-2029, according to the Belgian Presidency.
