EU imposes a provisional anti-dumping duty on certain types of petroleum-based plastics from China

29/11/23 (Agence Europe)The European Commission has decided to provisionally impose an anti-dumping duty on certain types of ‘polyethylene terephthalate’, plastics used in the clothing and packaging industries, following an investigation initiated in March 2023. The Commission opened the investigation following a complaint lodged in February by PET Europe, and stated that it had found dumping and threat of injury on these products. The regulation adopted by the Commission now imposes a provisional duty ranging from 6.6% to 24.2% of the pre-clearance price. These duties will be in place for a maximum period of six months, during which all interested parties will be able to comment, before the Commission, after consulting the EU Member States, makes the final decision on the imposition of definitive duties.
