06/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 6 October, the European Commission unveiled the six finalists for the European Capital of Innovation Awards (iCapital). Lisbon (Portugal), Lviv (Ukraine) and Warsaw (Poland) have won awards in the ‘European Capital of Innovation’ category. Cork (Ireland), Linköping (Sweden) and Padua (Italy) have won awards in the ‘European Rising Innovative City’ category of the European Innovation Awards. One winner and two runners-up in each category will be honoured at the awards ceremony on 27 November in Marseille. This European prize, supported by the European Innovation Council as part of Horizon Europe, rewards cities that support the local ecosystem of innovation and transformative innovation. The winner of the first category will receive a prize of €1 million , while the two runners-up will each receive €100,000. The second category winner will receive €500,000, and the two runners-up will each receive €50,000. (EV)
