06/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Swedish Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, and the Finnish Prime Minister, Petteri Orpo, wrote to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on Wednesday 4 October, asking her to assess the effects of EU legislation on energy, climate and the environment on forests. “We must support the green transition in a coherent way”, they insist. As part of the preparation of the ‘EU Strategic Agenda’, on the menu of the EU Heads of State or Government, the Prime Ministers of these two countries believe that decisions affecting forests and the forestry industry must take account of local conditions.
