14/07/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced, on Friday 14 July, that it has authorised, under EU State aid rules, a €74 million Czech scheme to support the development of railway sidings in order to encourage the transfer of freight transport from road to rail. This aid scheme, which will apply until 31 December 2027, will be open to any company that wants to build, modernise or restore rail infrastructure linking private land to the public rail network. The measure will also cover other types of investment costs in facilities directly linked to a siding. The aid will reach companies in the form of direct grants covering up to 49% of eligible costs.
