The European Commission launched a support service on Monday 24 April to strengthen the development of energy communities and help citizens replicate energy renovation programmes in buildings, such as insulation or the installation of renewable energy.
As part of this service, citizen energy communities and renewable energy communities can apply to receive support for their renovation projects. The same applies to emerging energy communities and one-stop-shops working with up to three energy communities.
The first call for pilot projects will select three initiatives in order to reach more than €500,000 of investments in energy renovation and €500,000 of investments in renewable energy. Applications can be submitted until 31 May and assistance to selected pilot projects will be provided between June 2023 and November 2024.
“The support service will guide and co-create the procedures, services, identification of renovation projects, and support service management structures to ensure that renovation support becomes a long-term service of the energy community towards its members”, says the online application platform.
