The MEP responsible for the European Parliament’s Article 7 report on Hungary, Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield (Greens/EFA, French), along with four colleagues, has written to all 26 Member States to ensure that the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council will organise a hearing for the country on 30 May.
The five MEPs also called on the EU Council to launch the recommendation phase under Article 7, which requires a vote without unanimity, to address the deterioration of fundamental rights in the country.
The other signatories are Thijs Reuten (S&D, Dutch), Isabel Wiseler-Lima (EPP, Luxembourger), Malin Bjork (The Left, Swedish) and Ramona Strugariu (Renew Europe, Romanian).
