23/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Executive Director, Christian Archambeau, will not serve a second mandate at the head of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), according to information gathered on Wednesday 23 November. This decision was reportedly taken the day before by the EUIPO Management Board. Mr Archambeau is expected to remain until the end of September 2023. A recruitment procedure will be launched very soon for an election in June for his successor. The Office did not want to create a precedent by extending a four-year contract by two years, a source told us. Andrea Di Carlo, Deputy Director of the Office, is said to be in line to succeed Mr Archambeau. However, the change in Italy’s direction with the new far-right government could significantly reduce his chances of getting the job, the same source told us. (PH with LC)
