23/11/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched, on Tuesday 22 November, the 2023 edition of a call for projects to fund European partnerships in journalism. With €10 million for Creative Europe, this is an increase of €3 million compared to the previous two years’ editions. Half will be used to support cross-border projects in collaboration with several European media. The remaining €5 million will, for the first time, be allocated to organisations that offer grants to public interest journalism. This funding is part of a wider Commission strategy including the ‘Media Freedom Act’ (see EUROPE 13023/1), which aims to ensure the independence and sustainability of the media sector. Companies and organisations in the sector have until 27 April 2023 to apply. (HS)
