EU Council approved by qualified majority compromise between institutions on 2023 budget

On Tuesday 22 November, the Council of the EU approved by qualified majority the joint text on the EU general budget for 2023, following the compromise reached with the European Parliament on 14 November.

Only Sweden and Hungary abstained from the Council vote on the EU budget for 2023.

The total amount of commitment appropriations in the 2023 budget is €186.6 billion. This is an increase of 1.1% compared to the 2022 budget as amended. A margin of €0.4 billion has been maintained...
