The motion for a resolution tabled by rapporteur Christian Ehler (EPP, German) on the implementation of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund was overwhelmingly adopted by 592 votes in favour, 19 against and 8 abstentions at the European Parliament plenary session on Tuesday 22 November.
The report was adopted on 26 October by the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE).
The rapporteur was very critical of the European Commission’s governance of the Fund. The report made a number of recommendations concerning the investment and exit strategy for equity investments, the continued role of the Investment Committee and the EIC Steering Board and the establishment of an independent body responsible for the implementation of the EIC (see EUROPE 13051/14).
