28/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Union condemns the attack on the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) in Butembo (North Kivu) on 26 July, in which two Indian policemen and a Moroccan soldier died, an Egyptian policeman was injured and demonstrators were killed or injured. “The European Union strongly condemns this deadly attack on peacekeepers and all the violence in North Kivu province since 25 July, which has resulted in the death and injury of several civilians”, said a spokeswoman for the European External Action Service on Thursday 28 July. Expressing condolences to the families of all the victims, to MONUSCO and to the governments of the countries concerned, the EU “reaffirms its support for MONUSCO and the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in their commitment to investigate and prosecute those responsible”.
