12/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Unified Patent Court is expected, based on “reasonable” projections, to begin operations in the last quarter of 2022 or early 2023, according to a statement issued on Wednesday 6 April. At the end of February, the inaugural meetings of the Administrative, Budgetary and Advisory Committees were held. The Advisory Committee is currently interviewing candidates for the judgeships until May, after which the Administrative Committee will appoint the judges before the summer break. Then the judges will elect the two Presidents of the Court. At the same time, they will undergo intensive training to fulfil their role. More precisely, the start of operations will be triggered on the first day of the fourth month after the deposit of the German instrument of ratification, which will be made possible once the Administrative Committee has given the green light.
