20/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The High-Level Resettlement Forum, dedicated in particular, to Afghan refugees in the EU and elsewhere, announced at the end of August (see EUROPE 12780/1), will take place on 7 October, Commissioner Ylva Johansson said on 20 September. “On 7 October, myself and EU High Representative Josep Borrell will convene a High-level Resettlement Forum dedicated to the situation in Afghanistan. This commitment was announced during the EU Member States extraordinary meeting of Interior Ministers on 31 August”, she recalled on Twitter. The two leaders will discuss the issue this week in New York at the UN General Assembly. The 7 October Forum will focus on helping Afghans most at risk. The United States and Canada will also be invited to the meeting, which is designed to gather offers of places from Member States. (SP)
