20/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission presented to industry stakeholders, on Friday 17 September, its latest report on access to in-vehicle data. In addition to an overview of the current market, the Commission also discussed the different regulatory options for remote repair and maintenance, as well as other services based on the data generated. This report comes at a time when vehicles are carrying an increasing amount of data. The Commission estimates that almost 30% of the vehicle fleet in the European Union will be connected by 2030. It also presented a roadmap and the next steps. A draft legislative proposal has been announced for the first quarter of next year. (TM)
