10/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – New shipments of personal protective equipment against Ebola, sent by Germany and France with EU support, have arrived in the Republic of Guinea in recent days to help the Guinean authorities fight the virus, the European Commission announced on 10 May. Nearly 43,000 items of protective medical clothing and equipment, 96,000 gloves, 850 goggles, laboratory equipment and PCR test kits. Earlier, Belgium had delivered 760,000 protective masks. The offers from these countries were coordinated by the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The Guinean authorities had requested assistance in February when the virus resurfaced (see EUROPE 12671/30, 12662/24). The transport costs were co-financed by the EU up to 75%. (AN)
