10/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – The spokesperson of the European External Action Service condemned, on 8 May, “in the strongest possible terms” the “horrendous terrorist attack” in the Dasht-e-Barchi district of Kabul. “The targeting of civilians, including school children attending the Syed Al-Shahda school for girls in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighbourhood of Kabul, in a bomb attack is a blatant and despicable violation of international humanitarian law”, the spokesperson said in a statement. At least 50 people were killed and dozens injured in the attack. According to the spokesperson, “those responsible must be held to account, and those that support their actions should feel total shame”. The spokesperson recalled that the EU had consistently called for an immediate ceasefire in the country, in which a lasting peace can be achieved through an inclusive and negotiated political settlement among Afghans.
