10/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 10 May, US Special Climate Envoy John Kerry, EU Foreign Ministers, and European Commission Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans, who is in charge of the ‘Green Deal’, all expressed their shared desire during a discussion in the Foreign Affairs Council (see other news), for the EU and the US to work together and raise global climate ambition in a concerted manner. “We agreed to work systematically together to set new frontiers in our climate ambition”, said the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, after the meeting. Emphasising the need to encourage global partners to be as ambitious as possible, Mr Borrell said that this EU-US collaboration will take place both bilaterally and multilaterally, at the G7 and G20 meetings.
