On Monday 10 May, the EU Council definitively adopted four legal acts that will complement Horizon Europe, the new EU framework programme for research and innovation, and provide a framework for specific activities in these areas for the period 2021-2027.
In particular, this framework will include nuclear research and training activities. The four texts adopted include the regulation on the Euratom programme.
The EU Council also gave the green light to the decision to establish a Horizon Europe-specific implementation programme (see EUROPE 12621/10). The latter defines the operational objectives and types of activities to be implemented as part of the framework programme.
The two remaining acts concern the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT - see EUROPE 12647/5). One of them aims to bring the EIT regulation in line with Horizon Europe; the other - a decision - sets out the new Strategic Innovation Agenda (SIA) of the EIT.
