04/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Union is mobilising €3.2 million to help the Republic of Guinea cope with the resurgence of the Ebola virus in the country. This financial assistance, which was announced by the European Commission on 4 March, will not only support patient care, prevention, epidemiological monitoring, and follow-up of contact cases, but will also fund communication, awareness-raising and coordination support activities. In response to a request for assistance from the Guinean authorities (see EUROPE 12662/24), France has already sent more than 500 protection kits for frontline health workers via the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
