16/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – We omitted a report from the Asylum and Migration Pact in our 16 October edition (see EUROPE 12582/22): the S&D group in the European Parliament is also taking over the regulation on crisis management, in addition to the regulation on preliminary border controls. The group has not yet decided on the names of the rapporteurs. As a reminder, this regulation on the management of crises and situations of force majeure organises compulsory solidarity in these specific cases of crisis and provides for only two aid options: relocation or return. The Regulation on asylum management and migration organises the general framework of compulsory solidarity for periods of migratory pressure and rescue at sea, situations for which another option for assistance exists with the creation of reception centres.
