16/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Chair of the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Security and Defence, Nathalie Loiseau (Renew Europe, France), announced on Thursday 15 October that the UK Ambassador to the EU had announced, in a letter to the Secretary General of the European External Action Service, that his country would withdraw from all EU CSDP missions and operations on 31 December 2020. The United Kingdom's participation in these missions and operations can only be envisaged through framework agreements, Ms Loiseau said. According to a European Parliament study published in May 2018, in 2017 there were between 100 and 150 people deployed by London under CSDP. (CG)
