24/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – Citing the publication of a report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) called on Friday 24 July for the extension of collective bargaining to tackle the gender pay gap, particularly for female carers and cleaners. Indeed, according to the OECD report, it is these women who would be among those most affected by the phenomenon of the working poor, even though they were on the front line during the pandemic. Specific legal obstacles often prevent female workers in atypical employment in these sectors from accessing collective bargaining, explained the ETUC in its statement. The ETUC also expected binding measures from the EU to put an end the gender pay gap. View the OECD report here: https://bit.ly/39rBO2W (PH)
