24/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Member States' Ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) gave the green light on Friday 24 July to the launch of the written procedure for the adoption of the appointment of the 22 European Prosecutors within the European Public Prosecutor's Office. The deadline has been set for Monday 27 July at 5 p.m., after which point the EU Council decision is expected to be formally adopted. The final list has not changed from the version of 17 July (see EUROPE 12532/5). For Malta, the appointment will be Yvonne Farrugia. As a reminder, the formation of the College of European Prosecutors had been blocked because of Malta's difficulties in appointing three candidates who met the conditions relating to experience and independence (see EUROPE 12499/13). Once it has been officially formed, the College of European Public Prosecutors should be able to hold its first meeting in September.
