30/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 30 April, the Council of the EU appointed Mr Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen Secretary-General of the Council for a second term. The appointment decision was taken by the Council via a written procedure initiated by the Committee of Permanent Representatives of Member States to the EU (Coreper) on 29 April. The decision was adopted after consultations and a video conference with European Council members on 23 April 2020. Mr Tranholm-Mikkelsen’s new five-year term covers the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2025. He has been the Council’s Secretary-General since 1 July 2015. Before taking office, Mr Tranholm-Mikkelsen was the Danish Permanent Representative to the European Union from 2010 to 2015. (LC)
